Free · open source · yours to keep

Build your own POS.
Download it. Own the code.

Answer a few questions about your business and download a single, self-contained point-of-sale file. It runs in a browser, stores data on your own machine, and works offline. No subscription. No lock-in. And it looks after the people behind the counter, not just the till.

How it works

It's a website builder, but at the end you download the actual working software — and it's yours.

Pick your trade

Start from a template that already thinks like your business — the lifecycle, the stations, a sensible menu.

Make it yours

Click workstations and items to set prices, routes, modifiers, taxes, tips, staff, inventory — no code.

Download & own

Get one HTML file plus a CLAUDE.md guide. Open it in a browser to run it, or in Claude Code to change anything in plain English.

How we make money (and how we don't)

This is a moral choice about how software should work. The knowledge is free and the code is free — forever.

The software

$0 / forever

No subscription, no per-terminal fee, no upsell. Download it and it keeps working even if we vanish.

Optional: a small server (a few dollars a month) only if you want to sync several registers. Your call, your server.

Everything a real counter needs

Built for the people behind the counter

Most point-of-sale software treats staff as a cost line. This one is on their side — and the protections are on by default, not something you have to know to ask for.

Fair scheduling — weekly grid, shifts texted to staff, overtime flagged before it's a surprise
Breaks & real-time earnings — meal & rest reminders, and pay that ticks up as you work
Time-off & shift coverage — request a day, swap a shift; no double-booking, no hidden overtime
A worker portal — your schedule, hours, and a pay estimate with overtime shown at 1.5×, on your own phone
Tips pooled fairly — split by hours worked, transparent to everyone
A safety line — file an incident or hit a panic button for an instant manager alert
Shout-outs — teammates hand each other a kudos that greets them at clock-in

Know if you'll make it

The numbers that decide whether the doors stay open — in plain words, on the report you already read at close.

"How today went" — one line at the top: are we okay?
Labor as % of sales — flagged when payroll outruns the day
Gross margin — real profit, not just revenue
Top items by margin — push the winners, cut the losers
Busy hours — staff to the rush, trim the lulls
Win back regulars — re-invite lapsed customers in one tap
Round up for charity — a little good at the register

The questions every owner asks

The honest answers — because trust is the whole point.

Where is my data stored?

On your own device, in the browser — never on our servers. If you run several registers you can sync them through a small server that you own. We never see your customers or your sales.

Is it backed up? What if my computer dies?

Your data is plain JSON you can export any time. Run the optional hub and you get rolling snapshots and an off-site copy. You're never one hard drive away from losing everything.

Does it work if the internet goes down?

Yes. It runs entirely from local data and re-syncs when you're back online. An outage never stops you ringing up a sale — a real advantage over cloud-only systems.

Am I locked in? Can I get my data out?

No lock-in. It's one HTML file and plain-JSON data, both yours. Export whenever you like. There's nothing proprietary to trap you.

What does it cost to run?

The software is $0 forever. A sync server, if you want one, is a few dollars a month. Texting customers costs only if you use it. Card processing is a fee you already pay — and the only place we earn.

How long until I'm up and running?

Download the file and open it in Chrome — it works immediately. Configuring your prices and importing data are guided steps, not a multi-week consultant project.

Who helps me when I'm stuck or want changes?

Every download ships with a CLAUDE.md guide. Open your file in Claude Code and change prices, receipts, or whole workflows in plain English — on your own machine.

What if customPOS disappears?

You own the code and it runs locally, so it keeps working with zero dependency on us. That's the strongest promise we can make — and the reason it's built this way.
